The industry had warned that people with trips booked to “amber watch” countries may have cancelled their trip rather than risk the cost of hotel quarantine. When a country is moved to the red list, all returning travellers must compulsorily quarantine for 10 days in a designated hotel and pay £1,750 each - a ruinous cost when added to the price of a typical family holiday.
